課程概述

This course is intended for the 2nd-year undergraduate students in the Dept. of Geosciences. The 3rd- and 4th-year students of Geosciences and other departments are also welcome. In this class, the frontier topics and current projects in the field of chemical geology will be outlined. Both theoretical and practical aspects will be emphasized to understand local and global paleo-tectonic, environmental and climatic changes. Applications to different fields of Earth Sciences will be given. New fields of biochemical geology and Nano-scale material will also be introduced.

8.Applications of natural carbonates to paleo-enrironmental changes.
9.Mid-term exam.
10.Origin of carbon-14 and tritium and applications to hydrogeological study.
11.Introduction to organic geochemistry.
12.Applications of gas geochemistry in earth sciences.
13.Recent progress of gas geochemistry researches in Taiwan.
14.Introduction to stable isotope geochemistry.
15.Nano-scale world.
16.Introduction to biogeochemistry and life in extreme environments.
